Handwara Cricket Club lifts the North Kashmir Cricket Premier League Cup

Srinagar: The Handwara Cricket Club won the North Kashmir Cricket Premier League cup (NKCPL) for 2021. The Handwara Cricket Club and FCC Fatehpora, Baramulla teams qualified for the finals after fierce competition from all 32 teams. In a strongly contested final match, the Handwara Cricket Club team emerged as the champions of the tournament.

In a joint initiative between the Indian Army, the civilian administration and District Cricket Associations of Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora, the North Kashmir Cricket Premier League was organised from October 19 October to November 7, 2021. A total of 32 teams from North Kashmir’s Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora district’s participated in the tournament with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The tournament was inaugurated at Shaheen Sports Field, Panditpura on October 19 and was played over a duration of 20 days at Shaheen Sports Field Panditpura and Hill Top Sports Field, Udipura.

The tournament concluded with a closing ceremony which was graced by Irfan Panditpuri, DDC chairman Kupwara, Khursheed Ahmed Dar, DDC Qalamabad, various dignitaries from Security Forces, civilian administration and a large number of spectators.

At the end of the closing ceremony, prizes were distributed to the winner and runner-up teams including individual performers. All the locals expressed their satisfaction for active participation by the youth in sports activities and bringing peace and harmony in the region.
