Rescue teams working at collapsed construction wall site in Gurugram

A tragic accident shook Haryana’s Gurugram district after an under-construction wall collapsed at a housing project, killing at least seven workers and leaving several others critically injured. The incident occurred on Monday evening at the Signature Global Society project in the Sidhrawali area, triggering panic and a massive rescue operation.

According to officials, the wall suddenly gave way around 8 pm, trapping multiple labourers working at the site under heavy debris. Emergency teams rushed to the spot and began rescue operations immediately.

The accident has once again raised serious questions about construction safety standards and worker protection at building sites across India.

How Did the Wall Collapse Happen?

Officials said that around 12 to 15 workers were present near the under-construction wall when it suddenly collapsed without warning.

The workers were buried under tonnes of rubble and debris, leaving rescuers struggling to pull them out. Rescue teams, including local police and disaster response personnel, worked through the night to locate and evacuate trapped labourers.

The injured workers were rushed to a hospital in nearby Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, where doctors confirmed the deaths of several labourers.

Who Are the Workers Who Lost Their Lives?

Authorities confirmed that seven workers lost their lives in the tragic accident. The deceased labourers have been identified as:

  • Satish
  • Bhagirath
  • Milan
  • Shiv Shankar
  • Mangal
  • Parmeshwar

Officials are still trying to contact the families of the victims and complete identification procedures for all affected workers.

The tragedy has left families devastated, as many of the labourers were migrant workers who had come to the region in search of employment.

Why Are Four Workers Fighting for Their Lives?

Four other labourers who were rescued from the debris are currently battling for survival.

Officials said the condition of the following workers remains extremely critical:

  • Chotelal
  • Deendayal
  • Shivkant
  • Indrajeet

Doctors at the Bhiwadi hospital are closely monitoring their condition, and medical teams are providing intensive treatment.

Authorities said an investigation has been launched to determine what caused the wall to collapse and whether construction safety rules were violated.

What Is the Construction Project Where the Accident Happened?

The incident occurred at a residential project being developed by Signature Global in the Sidhrawali area of Gurugram.

Officials have begun examining the structural stability of the site and checking whether proper safety measures were followed during construction.

Labour safety advocates have long raised concerns about poor safety protocols at construction sites, where workers often operate without adequate protective systems.

Why Has Haryana Seen Multiple Worker Tragedies Recently?

The Gurugram accident comes just days after another tragic industrial disaster in Haryana.

On March 7, four women workers were killed and more than 20 labourers injured in a massive fire at a factory producing Holi colours and gulal in Safidon town of Jind district.

The incident occurred in Bhat Colony when a sudden fire broke out inside the factory, where around 30 workers were reportedly present.

Was the Factory Gate Locked During the Fire?

Serious allegations emerged after the Jind factory tragedy.

Workers claimed that the main gate of the factory was locked from outside, preventing labourers from escaping when the fire spread rapidly inside the building.

Fire brigade teams rushed to the site after receiving alerts and launched a rescue operation. Many injured workers were shifted to the civil hospital with burn injuries.

Authorities are now investigating whether safety violations or negligence played a role in both incidents.

Growing Concerns Over Worker Safety

The two back-to-back tragedies have sparked fresh concerns over labour safety standards in Haryana’s industrial and construction sectors.

Experts say stricter inspections, better safety enforcement, and accountability are needed to prevent such deadly accidents in the future.

As rescue teams continue their work in Gurugram, families of the victims are demanding answers about how such a devastating collapse could occur at a construction site.
