Former MLA and Samajwadi Party leader Guddu Pandit has been accused of assaulting his wife Archana Pandit in Bulandshahr after a video purportedly showing a confrontation between the couple surfaced on social media.
The video, which has gone viral, allegedly shows Guddu Pandit pulling Archana by her hair and dragging her across the floor. Archana is also seen shouting and appearing to hit him with a broom during the confrontation.
The incident has prompted Archana to approach the police, alleging that she fears for her life and that she and her son have been receiving threats.
Archana Pandit Files Complaint at Shikarpur Police Station
According to the complaint, the incident took place on September 2 at Archana Pandit’s residence near the RTO office in Shikarpur.
Archana told police that she was at home with her son, Samar Pandit, when Guddu Pandit allegedly arrived and repeatedly knocked on the door, asking her to come outside.
She alleged that when she opened the door, he pushed her and began assaulting her.
Archana further claimed that a domestic worker heard her screams, came to her assistance and started recording the confrontation. She alleged that Guddu Pandit moved away after the recording began.
The complaint was filed at Shikarpur police station on Thursday.
Woman Seeks Round-the-Clock Police Protection
Archana has also requested protection, citing an alleged threat to her life. She has sought the deployment of female police personnel at her residence around the clock.
In her complaint, she further alleged that Guddu Pandit and members of his family had repeatedly threatened to kill her and her son.
The dispute comes amid ongoing divorce proceedings between the couple. Archana has alleged that Guddu Pandit wants her to withdraw the case pending before the court.
Police Examine Viral Video
Police have taken note of both the complaint and the video circulating on social media.
City Circle Officer Prakhar Pandey said authorities had received the complaint as well as the video and were examining the allegations.
According to the officer, further action would be taken on the basis of the findings of the investigation.
What Does the Viral Video Show?
The footage circulating online appears to capture a heated confrontation between Guddu Pandit and Archana Pandit inside a residence. While the video has become central to the allegations, its full context and circumstances surrounding the confrontation have yet to be independently established.
The viral footage is therefore being examined alongside Archana’s complaint as part of the police inquiry.
Guddu Pandit’s personal life has previously been the subject of public attention. Reports identify Kajal Sharma as his first wife and Sheetal as his second wife. Archana and Guddu have reportedly been involved in a dispute for nearly two years.
At present, the allegations made by Archana remain subject to investigation, and the police inquiry will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
