Mumbai:
The state government shall present a factual report showing the present financial condition of the state government and will be committed to improve the financial condition and bring financial discipline. The government will enact law to ensure 80 percent of the jobs in the private sector are reserved for the sons of the soil, stated Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Sunday.
The Governor said this in his joint address to both the houses of the state legislature, reiterated his governments commitment to take effective measures to provide food dishes at a reasonable rate of Rs 10 per plate. He further added that his government will start a “One Rupee Clinic” scheme at the taluka level to provide diagnostic tests at cheap rates.
This was the Governor’s first joint address to both the houses of the state legislature after the constitution of the 14th legislative assembly at the Vidhan Bhavan, Central Hall. Legislative Council Chairman Ram Raje Naik – Nimbalkar, Assembly Speaker Nana Patole, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Opposition Leader Devendra Fadnavis along with Ministers and Legislature members were present.
The Governor said that the government would give a clean, transparent and decision-oriented administration to the people of the state. He said that the state received heavy rains in October and November. Due to this, crops in 19 talukas of the 9 districts were damaged. The Government is committed to provide immediate assistance to the affected farmers.
The state government will take necessary steps to free the farmers from crop debt free and worry free. During his address, the Governor expressed the need to remove the bad situation of rural credit sector. He also said that the government will take measures to establish sustainable water supply system in the drought-hit areas of Marathwada, Vidarbha, in order to get good prices for the commodities.
Koshari said that the process of filling the vacant posts in the state government will be started. Equal opportunity and security for women will be the top priority of the government. He said that the government would continue to give free college and higher education to the girls of economically weaker families.
