New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday demanded an open and urgent discussion in Parliament on the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, asserting that the government must clarify the circumstances and whether there was an intelligence failure.
Addressing the media outside Parliament, Yadav said, “The issue of the Pahalgam terror attack is very important. All Opposition parties want there to be a discussion on it. The government should disclose what had happened and whether there was an intelligence failure.”
The demand comes after a deadly attack on a security convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region, which has drawn widespread condemnation and raised questions over national security preparedness.
Akhilesh Yadav emphasized that transparency is essential in matters concerning national security and urged the government to allow a meaningful debate on the matter. “The Prime Minister and the government must hear the Opposition, just as we are ready to hear what the government has to say,” he added.
