Government Breaks Silence on Talks With CJP
The Centre on Monday issued its first official response to the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest, confirming that discussions had taken place between government representatives and the organisation demanding action over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda said the dialogue began after the protesters approached the government with a proposal for talks. Sharing the development on social media, Nadda said discussions had been underway since late Monday morning and described the meeting as constructive.
“This morning, for the first time, a proposal came from the protesters to hold talks with the government, and our discussions have been ongoing since 11:50 AM,” Nadda wrote.
Nadda Says Delegation Submitted Written Memorandum
According to the Union Minister, members of the CJP delegation initially held an extensive verbal discussion before later handing over a written memorandum outlining their demands.
“The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere. An initial verbal discussion was held in detail with their delegation, and they submitted a written petition to me around 4 PM. I have requested all the protesters to end their sit-in and assist the administration in restoring normalcy,” Nadda said.
The statement marks the first official confirmation from the government that talks have taken place with representatives of the protest movement.
Three Key Demands Raised During Meeting
During the discussions, CJP representatives reportedly reiterated three major demands before the government. They sought the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities, the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk from hospital restrictions, and financial compensation of ₹1 crore for families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide following the examination controversy.
The delegation maintained that their agitation would continue until concrete action is taken on these issues.
‘Chalo Sansad’ Protest Witnesses Heavy Security
The talks came on the same day as the CJP’s “Chalo Sansad” march witnessed heightened security arrangements in central Delhi. Protesters attempting to move towards Parliament were stopped at multiple barricades near Parliament Street as police prevented the march from advancing.
Several demonstrators were dispersed after confrontations with security personnel, while authorities maintained strict restrictions around the Parliament complex during the opening day of the Monsoon Session.
Police Clarify Rumours Around Abhijeet Dipke
Amid the protests, reports circulated on social media claiming that CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had been detained by Delhi Police. The police later rejected those claims, stating that no such detention had taken place.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das subsequently clarified that Dipke had neither been arrested nor taken into custody and remained present at the protest venue.
