New Delhi: The government is reportedly considering reconstituting Parliamentary Committees after the tenures of most panels expired on September 20. Sources told India Today that officials are exploring the possibility of extending the tenure of these committees by one year to allow for more comprehensive examination of bills and subjects.

Chairmen of several Parliamentary Standing Committees have highlighted that the current one-year term is too short for thorough scrutiny. One official noted, “The time limit of one year is very less.”

In addition to extending tenures, the government is reviewing requests from MPs seeking transfers between committees. The proposed changes aim to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of committees, ensuring that legislative proposals receive detailed and careful consideration in the future.
