Mumbai: The parents of former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, Dilip and Manorama Khedkar, have reportedly left the country, sources told NDTV, following a road rage incident in Navi Mumbai.

According to police, the incident occurred on September 13 on the Mulund-Airoli Road, when a concrete mixer truck allegedly brushed against Dilip Khedkar’s Land Cruiser. Eyewitnesses said that Dilip Khedkar and his driver, Praful Salunkhe, forcibly took the truck’s helper, Pralhad Kumar Chauhan, into the SUV and transported him to Khedkar’s bungalow in Pune.

Authorities rescued Chauhan from the bungalow, despite Manorama Khedkar allegedly obstructing the police entry. Investigations revealed that Chauhan was confined in a watchman’s room, given stale food, and threatened with severe consequences if he did not pay for the damages.

Police further alleged that Manorama Khedkar attempted to tamper with CCTV footage by granting access to her bedroom where the DVR was kept, in an effort to destroy evidence.

The Rabale Police initially registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (kidnapping). Additional sections, including 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 127(7) (wrongful confinement for extortion), and 308(4) (extortion), were later added. The Pune Police also filed a case against Manorama Khedkar for allegedly obstructing officers and issued a notice.

Meanwhile, driver Praful Salunkhe was apprehended by Navi Mumbai Police on Friday from Sindhkhed in Dhule, as the investigation continues.
