Five terrorists killed in two separate encounters in south Kashmir’s Shopian district

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, five terrorists have been neutralised by security forces in two separate encounters in the south Kashmir’s Shopian district today.

Giving details, police said that three terrorists of Lashkar-e-Toiba (TRF) were killed by security forces early this morning in an encounter that had broken-out last evening at village Tulran in Imaam Sahab area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that one slain terrorist identified as Mukhtar Shah of Ganderbal had shifted to Shopian after killing one street hawker Virendra Paswan of Bihar in the outskirts of Srinagar city, few days back. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists.

In another encounter in Feeripora area of Shopian district today, two terrorists have been killed by security forces. The operation in the area was still underway when the last reports came in. Further details are awaited.
