Mumbai: The final deadline for residents to participate in the Dharavi Redevelopment Project ended on April 15, 2025. Those who chose not to cooperate or failed to register during the extended survey period will now be recorded as ‘unauthorised occupants’. Verification of the documents submitted so far will begin shortly.

The Sub-Divisional Officer and Head of the Survey for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project stated, “In areas where door-to-door surveys have been completed, we will begin drafting Annexure-2 based on the documents collected. Those who did not participate in the survey will be marked as ‘documents not received’ in the draft.”

In regions where the door-to-door survey is still pending, the process will continue. “The government is committed to ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left out of the project. This initiative was launched with the intent of providing a rightful home to every individual,” the official added.

According to the latest figures, around 1 lakh (100,000) homes and commercial units have been physically counted. Of these, approximately 94,500 occupants have been issued unique identification numbers. More than 89,000 units have been digitally recorded using LiDAR technology, and physical site surveys have been completed for around 70,000 homes and commercial establishments.

Speaking firmly about those who refused to participate, the official stated, “Individuals who did not register for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project will now be classified as unauthorised occupants, and records will be maintained accordingly.”
