Tragedy struck late Wednesday night in Bihar’s Purnea as an escort vehicle from the convoy of Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav met with a fatal accident. The grim incident resulted in the loss of life of the escort vehicle’s driver, identified as home guard Haleem Alam, and left a trail of injuries, including six policemen and four civilians.
According to reports by LiveHindustan, the collision occurred on the Purnia-Katihar four-lane highway in Belauri, Purnia, during the Jan Vishwas Yatra led by Tejashwi Yadav. The escort vehicle, allegedly traveling on the wrong side of the road, collided with a red civilian car approaching from the Katihar side, resulting in a devastating impact.
The aftermath of the collision saw a total of ten individuals, including the occupants of both vehicles, rushed to the Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Purnea, for urgent medical attention. Among the injured, five are reported to be in serious condition, with all undergoing treatment at JMCH.
Upon receiving news of the accident, SP Upendranath Verma promptly arrived at JMCH to oversee the treatment of the injured. Confirming the details of the collision, SP Verma stated that one fatality occurred, with multiple individuals sustaining injuries, including six police personnel.
The tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the risks associated with road travel, highlighting the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and exercising caution on the highways.
