Chennai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted raids at the property of Malayalam superstar Mammootty, specifically targeting Wayfair Films Private Limited, as part of an ongoing investigation into a luxury car smuggling case. The raids in Chennai involved eight ED officers and were supported by personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

In a related development, three houses linked to actor Dulquer Salmaan were also searched as part of the probe. To date, the ED has carried out raids at 17 locations, including properties owned by vehicle dealers, in connection with allegations of luxury cars being illegally smuggled into India via Bhutan.

Earlier, Dulquer Salmaan had approached the Kerala High Court seeking relief. The court allowed him to request provisional release of his Land Rover Defender, which was seized under Operation Namco. Customs authorities are required to decide on the matter within a week, and the actor has the option to approach the High Court if his request is rejected.

The raids on the properties of Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan highlight the ongoing intensity of the ED’s investigation into the high-profile luxury car smuggling case, reflecting wider scrutiny of illegal vehicle imports and associated financial irregularities.
