New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has firmly denied Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of large-scale vote tampering during the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, questioning why his party failed to raise any objections during the polling process.

According to ECI sources cited by News18, if Gandhi’s claims of a woman casting over 200 votes in two booths were true, the Congress’s own polling agents should have flagged the issue immediately. “If someone allegedly voted more than 200 times in two booths, why was no objection raised by the polling agent of the Congress?” the sources asked.

The poll body also reminded that the finalised voter lists had been shared with all political parties before the elections, allowing ample time to identify and report discrepancies. “After the voter list was finalised, a copy of it was given to all parties. Why were the issues of duplicate names not flagged? Why was no appeal made?” the sources further questioned.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi had accused the BJP and the Election Commission of orchestrating a “vote chori” in Haryana, claiming that 25 lakh fake votes were cast. He alleged that one woman’s identity appeared 223 times across two booths and that a Brazilian model’s image was misused to represent multiple fake voters in the electoral roll.
