Domino effect, Tablighi Jamaat Nizamuddin congregation in Delhi, foreign attendees quarantined in Mumbra

Mumbai: As the nation is trying to come to the terms with the probable spread of the Covid-19 virus through those attended Tablighi Jamaat Markaz at Nizamuddin in Delhi last week, Maharashtra is on edge as several of the attendees from the state have gone missing after returning. In a sensational development, Thane police detained 21 foreign nationals hiding in a mosque in Mumbra. These people had returned from the Markaz and all of them have now been quarantined.

According to police sources, acting on a tip off, a team of Thane police raided a mosque in Mumbra and detained 21 foreign nationals, including 13 Bangladeshi and 8 Malaysian nationals. All of them attended the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz at Nizamuddin in Delhi. Though none of them has shown the symptoms of Covid-19, all of them have been quarantined as precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, according to reliable sources it is learnt that many of the residents of Maharashtra who attended the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz have dispersed in different parts of the state and police has launched a massive search operation for them. “According to the information, around 150 individuals from Maharashtra who attended the event have gone incommunicado since their return. We are leaving no stone unturned to locate them,” said police sources.

Meanwhile, as the police officials and personnel are slogging it out on the streets risking their lives, there are good Samaritans who are helping them with food and drinks. Many housing societies across Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are making provisions of food, water, tea and juices for the police officials on duty.
