The political confrontation over the NEET controversy intensified on Tuesday after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of turning student concerns into a political campaign instead of engaging in a parliamentary discussion.
Launching a sharp attack through a post on X, Pradhan claimed that despite the Centre expressing its willingness to hold a comprehensive debate on the NEET issue during the Monsoon Session, the Congress chose to stage protests outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence.
Taking aim at the Opposition, the minister alleged that students were being used as instruments for political mobilisation rather than allowing Parliament to deliberate on their concerns.
“LoP Shri @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia continue to shamelessly exploit students as political tools to manufacture disruption during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.”
Pradhan further criticised the Congress for opting for demonstrations instead of parliamentary engagement.
“Even after Government conveyed its readiness for a comprehensive discussion, the Congress chose political spectacle over democratic debate. Their objective was never solutions for students, it was disruption for political headlines.”
Escalating his criticism of the Leader of Opposition, Pradhan alleged that Rahul Gandhi was attempting to create confrontation despite the government’s offer for dialogue.
“For Rahul Gandhi, this is not about students. This is about manufacturing confrontation after every genuine avenue for discussion has been opened.”
Reaffirming the Centre’s position, the Education Minister said the government remained committed to addressing students’ concerns through Parliament while also pursuing reforms to strengthen the examination system.
“Our Government remains 100% committed to discussing NEET and addressing every genuine concern of our youth on the floor of the House. The students of India deserve far better than being treated as props in a political campaign. They deserve certainty over chaos, solutions over slogans and responsibility over disruption.”
He also stressed that the government was focused on delivering long-term reforms and accountability in the examination process.
“We owe our students more than outrage. We owe them answers, reforms and accountability. That is exactly what our government remains committed to delivering.”
