Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday lauded the Centre’s continued support in transforming the national capital’s infrastructure, highlighting a series of new development projects worth ₹24,000 crore aimed at easing traffic, reducing pollution, and modernizing the city.
Addressing a press briefing, CM Gupta said, “The upcoming projects, which are going to be built at a cost of twenty-four thousand crores, I thank everyone involved in these projects. Respectful thanks to Nitin Gadkari and Narendra Modi, through whom Delhi is being decongested, becoming a pollution-free city, and Delhi’s traffic is being made smooth.”
Among the notable developments is the approval of ₹150 crore by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the construction of overbridges and underbridges along the Urban Extension Road (UER), a major connectivity corridor set to ease movement across outer Delhi and NCR.
“Similarly, ₹150 crore has been approved today by NHAI for the construction of overbridges and underbridges on the UER road… The central government’s cooperation has been constant and will continue in the future. Delhi will become a better and world-class city,” the Chief Minister added.
The projects, driven in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, are expected to drastically reduce travel time and vehicle congestion while improving air quality across major urban zones.
The UER corridor is part of Delhi’s long-term urban transport master plan and is expected to act as a major bypass, diverting heavy traffic away from inner-city areas. Officials say once completed, this will significantly cut down the capital’s infamous bottlenecks and improve public commuting experience.
