New Delhi: As the counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly Election 2025 progresses, the Congress party finds itself in a familiar crisis. With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surging ahead in 43 seats and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leading in 25, Congress is managing to stay afloat in just one seat – Badli.

Congress’s Devender Yadav is leading in Badli, while AAP’s Ajesh Yadav and BJP’s Deepak Chaudhary trail behind. Yadav, a former MLA from 2008 and 2013, is attempting a comeback after consecutive defeats in 2015 and 2020.

Exit polls had predicted a complete rout for Congress, and the ongoing trends align with those forecasts. Peoples Pulse predicted the BJP would win 51-60 seats and AAP 10-19, while Chanakya Strategies projected BJP at 39-44 seats, AAP at 25-28, and Congress at a maximum of three seats.

Once a dominant force in Delhi from 1998 to 2013, Congress has been wiped out in the last two elections (2015 & 2020). The 2025 results indicate yet another electoral struggle for the party as Delhi voters continue to shift towards BJP and AAP.
