A Delhi court has directed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to remain in judicial custody until April 15 in connection with a money laundering case related to the excise policy. Kejriwal appeared before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja after his custody with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concluded. The ED had requested 15-day judicial custody for Kejriwal, citing his lack of cooperation.

Before entering the court, Kejriwal expressed his discontent with the Prime Minister’s actions, referring to his arrest, stating, “Whatever the prime minister is doing is not good for the country.”

In attendance at the court were AAP ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal. The federal probe agency arrested Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with the case. The following day, Special Judge Baweja granted custody to the ED until March 28. Subsequently, the court granted the ED’s request for a four-day extension of Kejriwal’s custodial interrogation until April 1.

The probe agency accused the AAP leader in its remand application of involvement in the “entire conspiracy of the Delhi liquor scam,” alleging his participation in drafting and implementing policies to favor certain entities and benefiting from kickbacks. The agency further claimed that proceeds from these illegal activities were used in the election campaign for the Goa Assembly elections.
