Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday accused the BJP of distributing cash to women voters in AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s New Delhi constituency in the run-up to the Assembly polls. Addressing a press conference, Atishi alleged that women from slum clusters were given ₹1,100 each at the residence of former BJP MP Parvesh Verma at Windsor Place. She claimed that their voter ID details were also recorded during the distribution.
Atishi demanded a thorough investigation, urging the Delhi Police, CBI, and ED to raid the location. “I ask the Delhi Police, CBI, and ED to conduct raids at the bungalow where crores of rupees are kept,” she said. The Chief Minister also announced plans to file formal complaints with the police and the Election Commission, calling for Verma’s immediate arrest.
Responding to the allegations, Parvesh Verma denied any wrongdoing, stating that the money was distributed as part of an initiative by ‘Rashtriya Swabhiman,’ an NGO established by his late father and former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma.
The allegations come amid heightened political activity as the capital gears up for the Assembly elections, with both AAP and BJP vying to secure voter support. The controversy has added fuel to the political tussle between the two parties, with accusations and counter-accusations shaping the electoral narrative.
