Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva on Wednesday dismissed any potential alliance between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, asserting that it would not impact the BJP’s prospects in forming the government in the national capital.

Sachdeva’s remarks came in response to AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s statement earlier in the day, where Kejriwal firmly ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the Congress. In a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal wrote, “Aam Aadmi Party will be fighting this election on its own strength in Delhi. There is no possibility of any alliance with Congress.”

However, Sachdeva was not impressed by Kejriwal’s assertion. Speaking to ANI, he stated, “Who trusts Arvind Kejriwal’s point of view, we do not know. Arvind Kejriwal and the lie are friends of each other. Whether the (Congress-AAP) coalition will happen or not, does not matter to Bharatiya Janata Party. The Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form the government in Delhi.”

Sachdeva’s comments come in the wake of reports suggesting that Congress and AAP were in the final stages of talks for a potential alliance ahead of the Delhi assembly polls. Despite these talks, the BJP remains confident of its chances, with Sachdeva insisting that the party would emerge victorious regardless of the alliance dynamics between AAP and Congress.

Earlier, on December 7, Devendra Yadav, President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, had also criticized AAP and its leadership for the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, accusing Kejriwal and his party of failing to address the growing issues in the capital.

The political climate in Delhi remains tense as the assembly elections approach, with the BJP, AAP, and Congress all gearing up for a high-stakes battle. The BJP’s statement emphasizes its belief that internal squabbles between the opposition parties will not hinder its path to power.
