New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, January 4, unveiled its first list of candidates for the Delhi assembly elections set for February. The list includes several high-profile candidates, with former West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma facing off against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency.
In another key contest, BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri will challenge sitting Delhi Chief Minister Atishi from the Kalkaji constituency, as well as Congress candidate Alka Lamba. This fierce political showdown is expected to heat up the race in the capital’s southern region.
The BJP has also fielded former AAP minister Kailash Gehlot from the Bijwasan constituency, while former Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely is contesting from Gandhi Nagar on a BJP ticket.
The Congress has so far announced 22 candidates, with more expected soon. Meanwhile, AAP has already released its list of candidates for all 70 assembly constituencies.
