Dehradun: A speeding Mercedes car caused a fatal accident in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, killing four laborers and injuring two others near Sai Temple on Rajpur Road late Wednesday night. The driver, identified as Vansh Katyal, was arrested near ISBT on Thursday, Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh confirmed.
According to police, the luxury car was coming from Mussoorie towards Dehradun when it ran over the victims and also hit a scooter rider. The vehicle, bearing a Chandigarh registration number, reportedly had four to five occupants at the time of the crash.
During interrogation, Katyal confessed to being behind the wheel. The car is registered in the name of his brother-in-law, Jatin Prasad Verma. A case has been registered, and Katyal will be produced before the court. Police are further investigating whether alcohol or reckless driving was involved.
