Patna: A video of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Tej Pratap Yadav ordering an on-duty police officer to dance during Holi celebrations has gone viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from political leaders.
The video, recorded at Yadav’s residence in Patna, shows him threatening the policeman with suspension if he refused to dance. Yadav, covered in Holi colors, is heard saying, “Ek gaana bajayenge, usme tumko thumka lagana hai. Bura mat mano, Holi hai. Aaj nahi thumka lagaoge toh suspend kar diye jaoge.” (I will play a song, and you have to dance. Don’t mind, it’s Holi. If you don’t dance today, you will be suspended.) The cop then complies as Yadav sings a song during the celebration.
The incident has sparked controversy, with BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain condemning Yadav’s actions. “He asked his bodyguard to dance, or else he would suspend him. He has no power or authority to suspend anyone. This is Nitish Kumar’s government, not Jungle Raj… Using such language is unfortunate. RJD leaders have not evolved,” Hussain remarked.
Janata Dal (United) spokesperson Arvind Nishad also slammed Yadav, calling it a “reminder of the Lalu-Rabri regime.” He added, “The way Holi was celebrated during their rule and how he recreated that chaos truly brings back memories of those days.”
