COVID-19: India Reports 6 More Deaths Since May; Active Cases Decline to 836 Nationwide

New Delhi: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has confirmed the death of a 44-year-old woman suffering from chronic liver cirrhosis due to COVID-19, taking the total number of pandemic-related fatalities in the state to 29 since January and six since May. Nationwide, COVID-19 deaths for 2025 now total 109, according to the ministry’s latest bulletin.

Officials noted that recent deaths were largely among individuals with severe comorbidities, and emphasized that the fatality rate remains low considering the state’s population.

On Monday, the state recorded 34 new infections, including 12 in Mumbai, marking a notable decline as daily figures in the city had earlier hovered around 20–30. Other newly reported cases include:

  • Pune Municipal Corporation – 7 cases
  • Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation – 7 cases
  • Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Satara, Sangli Municipal Corporation, Amravati, Amravati Municipal Corporation, and Nagpur – 1 case each

All patients are reported to be experiencing only mild symptoms, and no severe cases requiring intensive care were noted.

Earlier on June 13, a 35-year-old cardiac patient succumbed to the virus at a private hospital, bringing attention to the impact on vulnerable individuals.

National Scenario:

India saw a drop of 428 active COVID-19 cases, reducing the total active cases to 836 across the country. So far in 2025, 14,772 people have recovered, and the death toll stands at 109.
