Col Santosh Mahadik, SC (P), SM Cricket Premier League held at Kupwara

Srinagar: Indian Army continuing its effort to connect with the local public and include them in the mainstream of national building, organised Col Santosh Mahadik, SC (P), SM Cricket Premier League-2021 at Chalgund Cricket Ground, Jugtiyal, Kupwara November 15 to November 24. 

A total of 16 teams participated and the Tournament was conducted on a knockout basis. The final match was played between KCC Chalgund and Rising Star Hayhama. 

Both teams played with great passion and enthusiasm. And in a very closely contested match against Rising Star, Hayama emerged victorious by 18 runs. 

In a bid to inculcate the feeling of sportsmanship, Indian Army felicitated the winning team with Col Santosh Mahadik, SC (P), SM Trophy and cash prize also the Runners-up team was presented with cash prize. 

In addition to providing a platform to the youth to showcase their talent, this tournament was also aimed at diverting the youth away from the Drug Menace and instil the nationalism feeling in the youth.

Late Colonel Santosh Mahadik was the Commanding Officer of the 41 Rashtriya Rifles. He was critically injured during the operation in Haji Naka Forest area of Kupwara near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir in November 2015 and succumbed to his injuries later. The cricket premier league is held in his memory.
