“All 8 Crore People Are Mine”: CM Vijay Promises Transparent Rule in Emotional First Address

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay delivered an emotional and wide-ranging first public speech on Sunday after assuming office, promising transparent governance, stronger protection for women and a people-centric administration under the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government.

Addressing thousands of supporters and party workers after the swearing-in ceremony in Chennai, Vijay thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for placing their faith in him and described the moment as both historic and deeply personal.

The actor-turned-politician acknowledged the scale of responsibility entrusted to him and appealed to the public for patience as the new government begins its work.

“You have placed enormous trust in me. Give me some time and I will prove worthy of it,” Vijay told the crowd, while assuring that his administration would remain honest and accountable.

In one of the most powerful moments of the speech, Vijay struck a conciliatory tone and said his government would serve every citizen equally, regardless of political differences.

“Whether someone supported me or opposed me, every person in Tamil Nadu belongs to us,” he said, drawing loud applause from supporters gathered at the venue.

The newly sworn-in Chief Minister said openness and accountability would define the TVK government and promised that his administration would not function behind closed doors.

“There will be transparency in governance. We will not hide facts from the people,” Vijay stated.

Focusing on governance priorities, Vijay announced that women’s safety would be one of the central concerns of his administration. He also promised strict measures to tackle drug-related crimes and substance abuse across the state.

The Chief Minister further assured welfare-driven policies for farmers, fishermen and economically weaker communities, saying development would reach every section of society under the new government.

During the speech, Vijay also reflected emotionally on his political journey, recalling the criticism, resistance and personal attacks he faced before reaching office.

“There were difficult moments, insults and challenges throughout this journey,” he said, thanking TVK workers for standing firmly beside him during politically turbulent phases.

Vijay credited party cadre and supporters for transforming his political movement into a governing force, saying their loyalty and dedication played a decisive role in his rise to power.

“You are my strength. Without your support, this moment would not have been possible,” he told party workers.

Calling for collective participation in governance, Vijay said the new administration aimed to usher in a fresh political culture in Tamil Nadu based on public trust, transparency and inclusive development.
