Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, inaugurated a new mobile Base Transceiver Station (BTS) at Mantralaya during Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, addressing long-standing network issues within the premises.

Spearheaded by IT Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, the initiative, in collaboration with the Directorate of Telecom, aims to enhance connectivity through newly installed BTS units for Vi and Airtel, along with a Microwave Tower. Further improvements, including network boosters, are underway to ensure seamless mobile service, essential for efficient governance, Shelar stated.

For years, poor network reception inside Mantralaya has hampered communication for ministers, officials, and journalists. The installation of these BTS units will provide high-speed data, improved voice clarity, and uninterrupted connectivity, benefiting thousands of employees and visitors.

The project, executed in coordination with leading telecom service providers, is expected to significantly reduce call drops and slow data speeds. Additionally, the government is considering integrating 5G-enabled infrastructure to future-proof Mantralaya’s connectivity needs.

The IT department is also exploring similar upgrades in other key government offices to ensure smooth digital operations and effective e-governance across the state.
