The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a nationwide protest on July 24, escalating its campaign over the alleged NEET-UG examination irregularities while maintaining its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The call for fresh demonstrations comes despite the Centre repeatedly expressing its willingness to hold talks and discuss the issue.
In a statement, the organisation said the nationwide protest has been organised to express solidarity with those who allegedly faced police action during recent demonstrations across the country. It urged student organisations, youth groups and volunteers to coordinate with one another to secure necessary permissions and make logistical arrangements for peaceful gatherings.
The CJP also appealed to participants to publicly read out the movement’s demands during the protests and stand in support of those who, it claimed, had been subjected to police excesses. Protesters were encouraged to raise slogans such as “Jai Hind”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, “Inquilab Zindabad” and “Jai Bhim”, while avoiding any provocative or inflammatory chants.
To ensure the demonstrations remain peaceful, the organisation released an extensive advisory for participants. Protesters have been instructed to remain non-violent under all circumstances, avoid responding to provocation and immediately alert volunteers if any attempt is made to disrupt the gathering.
The advisory also directs participants to remain within approved protest locations, follow authorised routes and refrain from using communal, defamatory or hateful language. Demonstrators have been advised not to carry sticks, poles or any object that could be treated as a weapon and to ensure that traffic movement is not obstructed during the protests.
As part of the safety guidelines, the CJP has asked participants to write the contact details of a lawyer or law student, along with an emergency contact number, on their forearm and carry the same information on a card in their pocket. The organisation said this precaution could prove useful if mobile phones become unavailable or communication is disrupted during the demonstrations.
The advisory further urged protesters to document incidents responsibly, avoid sharing unverified information on social media and immediately report any suspicious activity or attempts to create disturbances instead of confronting those involved.
The nationwide protest has been announced even as the Centre continues to maintain that those responsible for examination irregularities will face strict action. The government has also extended multiple invitations to CJP representatives for dialogue, but the organisation has declined the proposals.
The CJP has maintained that its agitation will continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan steps down. The fresh protest call also comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the establishment of fast-track courts for paper leak cases and assured strict punishment for those found guilty. According to media reports, the protest organisers have reiterated that while they welcome action against those responsible for paper leaks, they believe accountability at the highest level remains essential before the movement can be called off.
