Banglore: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced financial assistance for the victims of the tragic road accident in Chitradurga district that claimed several lives and left many injured. Calling the incident deeply distressing, the Chief Minister said the state government stands with the affected families during this difficult time.

As per the announcement, the families of those who lost their lives in the accident will receive compensation of ₹5 lakh each. Additionally, injured victims will be given ₹50,000 each to help with medical expenses and recovery. The Chief Minister assured that the relief would be provided promptly.

Siddaramaiah also ordered a detailed investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident. He said accountability would be fixed after identifying lapses, if any, and that corrective steps would be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The Chief Minister emphasised the need for stronger road safety measures, particularly on national highways, and said the government would review existing safety protocols. Senior officials have been instructed to closely monitor the situation and ensure proper treatment for the injured.
