Mumbai: “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has immense significance in my life. The first chapter I studied in school in History was about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the first time I held my bat was at this Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ground”, remarked Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar while expressing his sentiments on Saturday.

Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar organised the illustrious Marathi play ‘Jaanta Raja’, based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, since March 14 at Dadar’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park and it has been getting immense response from the audience.

The play begins with reciting the aarti of Tulja Bhawani. It started with deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurating the play by performing the aarti of Tulja Bhawani. Every day some or the other eminent personalities including Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, singer Usha Mangeshkar have attended the event. On Saturday, Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar attended the play.

MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar welcomed Sachin Tendulkar. Addressing him, Shelar said, “Your cricket made history from this same playground. Today you must address the audience and add yet another feather in your cap.”

The fifth day of the play was attended by cabinet minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, director Kedar Shinde, actor Ankush Chaudhary, actor Sana Shinde and other dignitaries.
