Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Civic Body Demolishes Structures Linked To AIMIM Corporator In Nashik TCS Case

Action Taken Amid Probe Into Nashik TCS Harassment And Religious Coercion Allegations

The civic administration in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Wednesday launched a demolition operation against properties allegedly linked to AIMIM corporator Matin Patel, days after he was accused of sheltering absconding accused Nida Khan in the controversial Nashik TCS harassment case.

Officials from the municipal corporation, backed by a large police force, demolished portions of Patel’s residence, office premises and several commercial shops situated in the Naregaon locality. Authorities claimed the structures violated municipal construction norms and were built without proper approvals.

Nida Khan Arrested After Alleged Hideout In Sambhajinagar

According to investigators, Nida Khan was apprehended from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on May 7 after Maharashtra Police alleged that she had been hiding at premises connected to Patel. Khan is facing accusations in multiple FIRs tied to alleged sexual harassment, coercion related to religion and misconduct involving women employees at the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services.

The municipal corporation had earlier issued a notice to Patel asking him to explain the alleged unauthorised constructions within 72 hours. Civic authorities warned that failure to respond satisfactorily could lead to demolition proceedings under municipal regulations.

Patel later moved court seeking relief against the demolition exercise. However, after no immediate stay was granted, the administration proceeded with the operation early Wednesday under tight security arrangements.

Mayor Signals Possible Action Against Corporatorship

Mayor Sameer Rajurkar confirmed that the demolition drive was conducted with police protection to avoid any law-and-order issues during the operation.

The mayor had earlier indicated that further scrutiny of Patel’s property documents and election-related disclosures could potentially lead to action concerning his position as corporator if irregularities are established.

AIMIM Leader Imtiaz Jaleel Criticises Demolition Move

Former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel visited Patel’s family in Naregaon ahead of the demolition and sharply criticised the municipal corporation over the speed of the action.

Addressing party workers and local supporters, Jaleel alleged that the civic administration ignored requests seeking additional time from the court before carrying out the demolition.

“We sought a week from the court, but the municipal corporation is in a hurry to demolish the constructions. After demolition, we will build a house for Matin and his family that the country will see,” Jaleel said.

SIT Continues Investigation Into Nashik TCS Controversy

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team constituted by Nashik Police is continuing its probe into multiple complaints connected to the Nashik office of TCS. Investigators are examining allegations related to harassment, molestation and religious coercion involving employees.

TCS has stated that it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding workplace harassment and coercion. The company has also confirmed that employees named in the investigation have been suspended pending the outcome of the probe.
