Centre Multi-disciplinary teams instruct to Maharashtra health department to speed up vaccination process

The multi-disciplinary teams deployed by the Union Health Ministry has instructed to state health department to speed up the vaccination process. The central team was recently on a visit to Maharashtra in view of increased detection of the variant of concern Omicron in some parts of the state.

It observed increase in COVID-19 patients as well as new Omicron patients in Mumbai, Thane and Pune regions. It also stressed that vaccination would help the further spread of new variant of Corona in these regions.

Central health team along with state health officials on Tuesday inspected and reviewed the treatment given to the patients in Thane. The district surgeons were present to provide information to union health team.

As per the recent detection, seven Omicron cases eere detected in Ambarnath, Badlapur and Bhiwandi towns of Thane district. These three towns are having low percentage of first and second dose of vaccination. Thane district followed Mumbai city in terms of number of covid patients during covid pandemic.

On December 21st, Thane district recorded 66 cases of Covid-19 a lowest number of cases in the state. However, on the following day the number of fresh covid cases has gone up to 150. Inddicating upward growth the graph of infection.

Beside, the first ever Omicron case from the state was found in Dombivli town in Thane district later seven cases were detected in Thane. On this backdrop, the central and state teams undertaken detail review of covid situation in Thane District followed by Mumbai.
