Centre has approved the transfer of Covaxin technology from Bharat Biotech to Haffkine Institute. Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, informed Maharashtra government that the approval has been given as per the recommendation of the committee of scientific experts for a period of one year. The move will help Haffkine Bio-pharma Corporation to start production of Covaxin as soon as possible.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accepting his request and allowing Haffkine Institute to start large scale production of covaxin in the state.
