CBSE Class XII results performance better than pre-Covid times, Class X results could be announced soon

Mumbai: The Class XII results of the exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) were declared on July 13, registered a pass percentage of 88.78%, a hike of 5.38 % from its last year’s pre-Covid exams. As usual, the girls fared better than boys by over 5. 96% with girls pass percentage at 92.15 %. About 3.24 % of the total students scored over 95% while 13.24 % of students scored over 90% in the exams.

The Pune region, that covers the areas of Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, registered a pass percentage of 90.24%, while Trivandrum region registered the best results in the country with a pass percentage of over 97. 67%. About 23,000 students appeared for Class XII board exams, while about 76,000 students from Class X exams from Pune division.

Regional director of Pune division M.D. Dharmadhikari told thenews21, “There was no formal announcement of result date this year. The results were declared two days in advance due to a court ruling asking us to declare results by July 15. The Class X results could also be declared by the evening of July 13 or on July 14 for the same reason. While Class X exam schedule stayed affected by the Covid lockdown, a few examinations of Class XII were affected, which were subsequently rescheduled between July 1-15 and later cancelled.”

Dharmadhikari said that while Class XII students will get their mark sheets and Passing certificate separately, no such decision has yet been taken for the Class X students. The Class X students though could get mark sheets and passing certificates in a single document.  In the case of those who fail, the CBSE mark sheets could mention the term “Essential Repeat” from this year.

The exam schedule of about 11 subjects had to be cancelled in various parts of the country. Students  who had appeared for over three exams, were granted marks on the basis of average of best marks from three subjects. The results of some students who had given just one or two exams, were issued on the basis of appeared exams, practicals and internal assessments. The students have the option to give exams later to improve their scores.
