Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap made headlines on Saturday (March 23) as he declared his exhaustion with engaging with what he termed as ‘mediocre’ individuals and unveiled a bold move to monetize his time spent meeting people.
Taking to his official Instagram account, the director of acclaimed movies like Gangs of Wasseypur and Dev D, among others, announced his decision to charge a fee from those seeking his time. In a candid social media post, Kashyap expressed frustration over his past experiences with newcomers and their creative endeavors, which often fell short of his expectations.
“I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers and mostly ended up with mediocre shit. So now onwards I don’t want to waste my time with meeting random people who think they’re creative geniuses. So I will now have rates,” Kashyap stated, laying out his fee structure.
According to the filmmaker’s rates, a 10-15 minute meeting with him would cost ₹1 lakh, while a half-hour session would be priced at ₹2 lakhs. For a full hour of his time, the charge would be ₹5 lakhs. Kashyap emphasized that all payments must be made in advance, underscoring his resolve to prioritize valuable interactions over casual encounters.
In a stern message directed at aspiring individuals, Kashyap reiterated his stance, stating, “I am tired of wasting time meeting people. If you really think you can afford it, call me or stay the fu*k away.”
The filmmaker’s bold move received a playful response from his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap, who humorously remarked, “Forwarding this to everyone in my dms and email who keep sending me scripts to forward to you.”
Known for his unapologetic and straightforward demeanor, Anurag Kashyap has never shied away from expressing his views on various issues within the industry. With a reputation for pushing boundaries and challenging norms, Kashyap continues to be a prominent figure in the Indian film industry.
