Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary of the Maharashtra government and requested the people who are fully vaccinated be exempted from getting the RT-PCR Negative report before coming into the city.
With a view of curbing the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the government of Maharashtra has imposed restrictions on domestic passengers arriving in Mumbai since May. According to the directives of the government, people arriving in the city must have a negative RT-PCR test report of not more than 48 hours old commencing the journey.
The restrictions were initially imposed on passengers arriving from Gujrat, Goa, Delhi, Rajasthan and Kerala. However, due to the increase in the number of cases, later the restriction was imposed on all passengers arriving from various parts of the country.
On Tuesday, BMC chief IS Chahal wrote a letter to the Home Secretary requesting to waive off the condition of the demand of the negative RT-PCR report for people who have taken both the shots of the vaccination. But the question that arises is that will the vaccinated person will never be infected again despite being vaccinated and the other point is what if the person who is vaccinated is infected and comes in contact with a person who is not vaccinated?
When thenews21 asked these questions to the Additional Municipal Commissioner, Suresh Kakani, he said, “Of course, mild mutation can be there. Yet even people who are vaccinated will have to abide by all the Covid-19 rules like wearing a mask, maintaining social distance and washing of hands and using sanitisers which will prevent the spread of the virus to other people”.
