BMC to complete development works from internal loans and using 69% reserved funds? Questions Prabhakar Shinde
Mumbai: The BMC budget which was presented today is nothing but an inflated one with no effort to increase the income of BMC. How is BMC going to complete the development works? By taking internal loans and using 69% funds from reserved funds? Questions BJP leader Prabhakar Shinde. He termed this budget as a ‘budget of false promises’
“Today’s BMC budget will lead the corporation to bankruptcy soon. This budget has no vision of how to increase the earnings of BMC. Just 15 days back to help the B.E.S.T. Corporation passed the resolution in a standing committee meeting of ₹ 6800 crores but in the budget, BMC Commissioner only spoke about ₹ 800 crores for B.E.S.T. This is a clear attempt to destabilise the B.E.S.T. by the corporation.
Shinde also alleged that people in power who wants to build Urdu Bhavan have forgotten to ‘Marathi Bhasha Bhavan’, Warkari (Pillgrims) Bhavan’ and ‘Dabbawalas Bhavan’ which they promised in the past.
“Today’s budget has estimated loss of taxes of ₹ 11,429 but is Corporation going to recover that money? Has Corporation got any assurance from the state? There is no answer one can find in today’s budget,” said Shinde.
Shinde thinks that this budget has disappointed the common Mumbaikars as provisions made in this budget are nothing but ‘Election Gimmicks’ as promises made in this budget will never get fulfilled as they are not practical.
Many projects in BMC are still struggling to get their final shape or are yet to complete within the given deadline. The coastal road project is one of the examples. As compare to last budget BMC only spent 40% of its allocated amount and many schemes announced last year have remained only on papers and nothing has been materialised.
Shinde also brought attention to Goregaon Mulund Link Road which is still pending for 4 years and funds allocated for different sections have not been utilised to date.
Shinde has appealed to Mumbaikar that in the upcoming BMC election they should vote against the ruling Shiv Sena which is making Mumbaikars fool for the past many years.
