Mumbai: In a rare sight of sorts, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJPs) acquired royalty, Rajya Sabha MP Udayanraje Bhosale and his cousin brother BJP MLA Shivendraraje Bhosale, both from Satara royalty have demanded that the Maharashtra government to promulgate an ordinance extending reservation quota to the Maratha community. BJP MLA Shivendraraje Bhosale has also warned the government of taking to the streets if the Maratha community is not granted the reservation quota.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP, Udayanraje Bhosale Friday asked the Maharashtra government to promulgate an ordinance to facilitate reservation to the Maratha community who are dismayed after the Supreme Court passed an interim order on not to implement the reservation for 2020-21 in education and jobs.

Bhosale said that until the final ruling of the Supreme Court comes, the state government should promulgate ordinance so that the Maratha community gets benefit of the reservation. Bhosale said he will strongly stand by the Maratha community.

On the other hand BJP MLA from Satara, Shivendraraje Bhosale threatened the government on taking to the streets if the Maratha community does not get reservation.

The representatives of the Akhil Bharatiya Maratha Mahasangh staged protest in Jalna outside the district collector’s office and also handed over a representation to district collector,  Satish Soni. In Solapur also demonstrations were staged.

In a meeting of Maratha Kranti Morcha held in Mumbai, the leaders condemned the decision taken by state Education minister, Varsha Gaikwad with regards to the reservation before the final judgment of the apex court.

The representatives of MKM also said that a breach of privilege motion should be moved against Advocate General, Ashutosh Kumbhakoni for gross negligence in defending the reservation for Maratha community effectively.

It was also unanimously decided to boycott the joint meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and cabinet sub-committee on Maratha reservation to discuss on various pertinent issues of the community. The morcha also demanded the government to fulfill all their pending demands.
