Mumbai: Taking note of the ensuing Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for ‘elgar’ (clarion call) against the appeasement of the vote bank that is going on, corruption and political nepotism that has been rampant through its ‘Jagar Mumbaicha’ campaign which will be kickstarted on November 6 from Bandra East.

The venue for the start of the BMC election campaign at Bandra East was deliberately chosen as it houses the private residence of former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, president of Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction (SSUBT). The Thackeray faction has been ruling the BMC for the last two decades now.

The Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray group is trying to endanger peace in Mumbai and also create a rift in the society keeping the forthcoming BMC elections in mind, said Mumbai BJP president MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.

He further alleged that these attempts are being made to appease a certain section of the society. Hence Mumbai BJP has announced ‘Jagar Mumbaicha’ campaign under the leadership of deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Expressing his confidence, MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar said that the campaign will be headed by MLA Atul Bhatkalkar and it will definitely expose the political corruption that is currently rampant in the Mumbai civic body.

It will commence from PWD ground in Government Colony, Bandra East from 6 pm onwards on Sunday. Lok Sabha MP Poonam Mahajan and Mumbai BJP president MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar will address the meeting as the keynote speakers. MLA Parag Alvani and other office bearers from Mumbai will be present on this occasion.

Thereafter, on November 7, ‘Jagar Mumbaicha’ meeting will be held at Gundavali in Andheri East. Interestingly, the results of Andheri East assembly constituency elections are also to be declared on Sunday and on Monday, the BJP has organised its meeting in the same constituency.

Commenting on the campaign, MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar said that the BJP is trying to expose the appeasement of vote bank that is currently going ahead of the forthcoming BMC elections. Also, this campaign is against the corruption and political nepotism that is rampant in the state.

He also pointed out that this is a tempestuous campaign for Mumbaikars to make them aware about those who are striving to fulfil Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s long unfulfilled dream. Hence Mumbaikars must participate in this campaign in large numbers, appealed MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.
