BJP takes on Sena ruled BMC, points out at other illegal structures in the city, demands prompt action

@nag228

Mumbai: Alacrity with which the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) moved in to demolish the illegal construction at Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut’s office in suburban Bandra, while being towards noted fashion designer Manish Malhotra has now spiraled into a raging controversy over illegal constructions in Mumbai. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) group leader, Prabhakar Shinde pointed to 40 spots in the 24 wards of the BMC and has demanded to take rapid action against the illegal structures in the city pointed out in the letter.

Taking a sarcastic dig at the Shiv Sena ruled BMC, Shinde wrote a letter commending sarcastically about the work of the civic body for its prompt action on the illegal structure of the Manikarnika Films office of Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut in just 24 hours.

BJP being the opposition party in the state and in BMC too, BJP is always on the hunt for mistakes of the BMC as it is ruled by the Shiv Sena for over 25 years. Recently, Kangana had equated the situation in Mumbai to that of POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) after which an ugly spat with Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut began. It is said that the BMC action was to teach a lesson to Kangana.

BMC had issued her a notice on Tuesday and asked her to produce the relevant permission documents pertaining to the additional structure. But the same BMC gave a seven day notice period to noted fashion designer Manish Malhotra for similar alterations in his office in the same suburban Bandra.

On Wednesday morning, BMC officials and laborers with JCB machines, hammers and other tools reached her office and in her absence, they razed some parts of her bungalow.

After this, BMC and Shiv Sena had to face the backlash from citizens and BJP.

BJP raised this issue and wrote a letter to the BMC commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal stating that the demolition drive conducted in less time was a great initiative and now BJP with the letter has given a list containing 40 names of illegal structures in all 24 wards of the BMC and demanded to act promptly as done in case of Kangana.
