New Delhi: A fresh political controversy erupted on Thursday as the BJP accused former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of “digital loot” by allegedly renaming the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) before deleting it. The account was reportedly changed to ‘Arvind Kejriwal at Work’ (@KejriwalAtWork), prompting calls for a probe.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva strongly criticized Kejriwal, alleging that he converted a government-sponsored digital tool into a personal asset. “Arvind Kejriwal changed the Delhi CMO’s account and made it his own. This is a direct loot of government money. We demand an immediate FIR and a thorough investigation,” Sachdeva stated.
The BJP leader further claimed that the handle, which was created using public funds a decade ago, amassed lakhs of followers through official promotions. “It is unfortunate that after his government’s fall, Kejriwal ordered the handle to be converted into his personal account,” Sachdeva added.
As the controversy intensified, the entire X account was deleted, raising further suspicion. The BJP has now urged Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to intervene and launch a formal investigation into what it calls the “misuse of government resources for personal branding.”
