BJP leader Nishikant Dubey launched a scathing attack on the Congress party on Thursday during a heated session in the Lok Sabha, alleging links between the party and entities backed by American billionaire George Soros. Amidst uproar in the Parliament, Dubey claimed that the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), allegedly funded by Soros and US-based organizations, aims to destabilize India’s democratic processes.
Dubey accused OCCRP of orchestrating campaigns to disrupt the functioning of the Indian Parliament. Citing reports from the French media outlet Mediapart, he said, “The Soros Foundation and the US are supporting OCCRP to ensure the Indian Parliament doesn’t run smoothly.”
He also brought up historical allegations against Soros, claiming the billionaire had previously destabilized the global economy, including profiting USD 6 billion from the Bank of England crisis in 1991. “Now, Soros wants to derail the Parliament of India,” Dubey alleged, raising concerns about external interference in India’s internal affairs.
The BJP MP further questioned Congress over its connections with Salil Shetty of the Open Society Foundation, an organization associated with Soros. Dubey pointed out Shetty’s participation in Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra and asked whether he had funded the campaign. “What is Congress’ relationship with Salil Shetty? Has he funded the Bharat Jodo Yatra?” Dubey inquired, urging the opposition party to clarify its stand.
Dubey’s remarks have escalated tensions between the BJP and Congress, with the ruling party accusing its rival of being linked to forces attempting to undermine India’s sovereignty. These allegations have intensified the political battle as the Parliament continues to witness disruptions over contentious issues.
