BJP MLA Yogesh Sagar alleges Rs 500 cr corruption in a plot exchange

Mumbai: Alleging corruption of Rs 500 crore in exchange for a plot at Mahul with a builder, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Yogesh Sagar wrote to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanding to halt the process and start an inquiry. Sagar has said that there were many plots reserved for the public, recreational activities in the Development Plan (DP) of the city. However, all are lost due to the corruption in BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Drawing attention to the recent plot exchange between BMC and the builder, Sagar said the civic body gave its plot to Ajmera builder which was reserved for garden and was having a clear title.

“In place of that, the BMC took a plot from the Ajmera builder for Mahul Pumping station which is near buffer zone and not good for development and stuck in the environment permissions. The exchange was meant to favour the builder and help him to dodge the environment permissions,” alleged Sagar.

He further alleged that there is a straight benefit go Rs 500 crore. It’s condemnable that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is helping builders and giving away Mumbai’s public land,” Sagar wrote in a letter dated January 7, 2022.

The BJP MLA said that in an agenda of the Improvement Committee in November 2021, subject no. 6, had mentioned that the BMC issued Development Regulation Certificate (DCR) to Ishwarlal Ajmera for plot no 39554.60 on February 12, 2020.

“Seriously, the same plot has been given to Ajmera and other six developers as per the BMC’s proposal now,” Sagar added.

Reminding a Supreme Court (SC) judgement, Sagar said a plot acquired for public reservation cannot be given to the landowner or a private individual.

“However, corrupt Shiv Sena leader and BMC officials are not even following the apex court’s order. How come the plot exchange took place without any discussion in the house? It is hinted at corruption,” he said.

Sagar demanded that the chief minister should immediately stay in the process of exchange and give an order for inquiry else he would seek other legal options.
