BJP leader Altaf Thakur urges J&K LG to raise monthly honorarium of Sarpanchs, Panchs

Recommends Rs 10,000 for Sarpanchs and Rs 6000 for Panchs, Welcomes BV3, says J&K to witness huge development

Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) spokesman Altaf Thakur on Saturday demanded that the monthly honorarium of Sarpanchs be raised from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 and Rs 3,000 to over Rs 6000 a month so that they can live a dignified life.

In a brief statement issued here after interacting with the group of Sarpanchs and Panchs at Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI) Pampore, Thakur said that Sarpanchs and Panchs are getting a very meager amount as honorarium. “I urge the Lieutenant Governor of J&K to look into the matter on priority basis and raise the monthly honorarium of panchayat representatives. I recommend Rs 10,000 for a Sarpanchs and over Rs 6000 for a Panchs as monthly honorarium,” Thakur said.

Thakur while expressing satisfaction over the safe accommodations provided to the panchayat representatives across Kashmir, said that the panchayat representatives should be provided with the hygienic food and safe drinking water at their respective accommodations.

He also demanded Wi-Fi internet facility for Sarpanchs and Panchs in their respective villages for smooth grievance redressal system. The BJP leader also welcomed the B2V3 program stating that each village will witness a huge development and people must participate in the back to village programs and put forth their grievances.
