BJP Hits Back at Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Fraud Allegations, Terms Congress Response as ‘Selective Outrage’

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly countered allegations made by Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding alleged voter fraud in the recently concluded general elections. In a press conference held in the capital, BJP spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra criticised the Congress party’s response to the election results, accusing it of displaying “selective outrage.”

The BJP argued that while Congress leaders questioned the integrity of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in states where they lost, they remained silent or celebratory in states where they performed well — including their 99-seat win in the Lok Sabha. The party described this dual stance as politically motivated and lacking consistency.

The saffron party also took exception to Rahul Gandhi’s tone and warnings during his recent press conference, especially his remarks about the Election Commission. The BJP said such language from a senior parliamentarian was inappropriate and amounted to threatening a constitutional institution.

Reiterating its stance, the BJP claimed that while it had spent years in the opposition, none of its leaders had resorted to issuing public threats or casting doubts on the Election Commission’s neutrality. The party called the Congress narrative a reflection of political frustration and questioned the basis of the voter fraud allegations without evidence.

The row erupted after Gandhi accused the ECI of not providing machine-readable voter lists and hinted at collusion with the BJP in certain states. The Election Commission later responded by dismissing the claims as misleading and has since sought a formal declaration from Gandhi under the electoral rules.
