Bihar stands on the edge of a political turning point today as counting begins for one of the most intensely watched Assembly elections in the state’s history. This year’s polls made headlines long before counting day, registering Bihar’s highest voter turnout since 1951 and signalling a strong public desire for change, stability, or both.

Held in two phases and concluding on November 11, the election saw an impressive 66.91% overall turnout. Women voters emerged as the driving force of the poll, recording a remarkable 71.6% participation, far higher than the 62.8% turnout among men—a trend analysts say could significantly influence the final outcome.

Managing an election of this scale required a massive administrative setup. Nearly 8.5 lakh polling staff and 1.4 lakh polling agents were deployed across the state to facilitate smooth voting for 2,616 candidates from various political parties and independent fronts. To ensure transparency and strict adherence to guidelines, the Election Commission appointed 243 general observers, 38 police observers, and 67 expenditure observers.

Tejashwi Yadav takes early lead in Raghopur

Initial counting through postal ballots indicates the NDA holding an early advantage. JD(U) candidate Anant Singh is leading in Mokama, while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has taken an early lead in Raghopur, as per a report by The Indian Express. In Mahua, RJD rebel Tej Pratap Yadav is trailing in the first round of trends.
