A startling revelation has emerged in the high-profile kidnapping case of a girl student from Madhya Pradesh, who was purportedly preparing for the NEET exams in Kota, Rajasthan. Rajasthan police disclosed on Wednesday that the alleged abduction was, in fact, a meticulously orchestrated plan concocted by the girl and two of her friends, reminiscent of a plot straight out of a movie.
SP Amrita Duhan addressed the media, revealing that the student, identified as 20-year-old Kavya Dhakad, had arrived in Kota with her mother on August 3, 2023. Upon thorough investigation, it was established that no untoward incident had befallen the student. Instead, she had been in the company of her friends all along.
Despite the disclosure, the whereabouts of the student and one of her friends remain unknown. Authorities have issued an appeal for them to contact the nearest police station, expressing concerns for their safety and well-being.
The case gained widespread attention on Monday when Kavya’s father, Raghuveer Dhakad, reported receiving messages demanding a ransom of Rs 30 lakh for his daughter’s release. The alleged kidnapper had also sent images showing the girl bound with ropes, intensifying concerns about her safety. Hailing from Bairad in MP’s Shivpuri district, Kavya’s disappearance sparked a flurry of efforts to locate her, including intervention from Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who urged Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma to ensure her safe return.
Previously, CCTV footage from March 18, just hours before the purported abduction, captured Kavya at Durgapura railway station in Jaipur, accompanied by two male individuals. Kota police have launched an extensive investigation, scrutinizing the CCTV footage to trace her movements. In a bid to expedite the search, Kota SP has announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for any information leading to the girl’s whereabouts.
The revelation has stunned the nation, highlighting the complexities and challenges inherent in criminal investigations, while underscoring the importance of thorough scrutiny and diligent follow-up in high-profile cases.
