Thimphu: In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, led a solemn prayer ceremony for the victims of the Delhi blast that claimed several lives on Monday evening.

Addressing thousands of Bhutanese citizens gathered at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, the King expressed deep condolences for those who lost their lives in the tragic explosion near Red Fort in New Delhi.

“Let us all come together and pray for India, pray for Prime Minister Modi. May all your aspirations, your vision, and your service to India bear fruit. May you overcome each and every single obstacle. And may your dream of an even brighter, stronger, more prosperous India be fulfilled. But above all, we would like to take a moment and pray for the people who sadly lost their lives yesterday in Delhi. We’d like to pray for them,” said His Majesty, as thousands joined in a collective moment of silence.

The emotional tribute came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit to Bhutan, reaffirming the deep-rooted friendship and cultural ties between the two Himalayan neighbours.

The prayer ceremony was marked by chants and candlelight as Bhutanese citizens expressed solidarity with the Indian people in their time of grief.

The tragic blast in Delhi, which killed at least 12 people and injured over 20, has drawn widespread condemnation from across the world. Investigations are underway, with preliminary reports suggesting the use of ammonium nitrate and detonators in the explosion.
