Barkha Trehan Says Ink Attack Was a Personal Protest
A fresh controversy unfolded at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar after Barkha Trehan, president of Purush Aayog and a men’s rights activist, publicly admitted to throwing ink at Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke during a public gathering on Saturday.
Soon after the incident, Trehan released a statement saying she carried out the act as a mark of protest. She alleged that Dipke had laughed when Lord Ram was allegedly insulted during a programme organised by his party. Describing herself as a “Kattar Hindu,” she said she acted out of anger and stood by her decision.”Yes, I, Barkha Trehan, am the woman who threw ink on Abhijeet Dipke because he laughed when my Prabhu Shri Ram Ji was insulted on his Cockroach Janta Party stage. I am a Kattar Hindu. I was very upset. This was my protest and I am proud of it. Jai Hind. Jai Shri Ram.”
Incident Interrupted Public Meeting at Jantar Mantar
The incident took place while Dipke was addressing supporters at Jantar Mantar, where protests were being held over issues including alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and other public concerns.
According to eyewitness accounts and videos circulating on social media, Trehan walked towards the stage during Dipke’s speech and threw ink at him, briefly disrupting the programme. Party workers immediately intervened and restrained her before Delhi Police personnel escorted her away from the venue.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the gathering resumed after the brief disruption.
Video of Incident Goes Viral
Footage of the ink attack quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking widespread discussion. The incident drew attention not only because of the dramatic interruption but also due to Trehan’s subsequent public admission that she had deliberately carried out the protest.
The viral videos have generated intense debate, with supporters and critics expressing sharply divided opinions over the incident.
Social Media Divided Over Protest
Trehan’s statement triggered mixed reactions online. Some users defended her action, saying it reflected her objection to the alleged remarks concerning Lord Ram. Others criticised the ink attack, arguing that disrupting a public meeting was not an appropriate way to express disagreement.
As of now, Abhijeet Dipke and the Cockroach Janata Party have not issued a detailed response specifically addressing Trehan’s claims. It also remains unclear whether any legal action will be initiated in connection with the incident.
The episode has added another layer of controversy to the ongoing political protests at Jantar Mantar, with the ink attack becoming one of the most talked-about moments from the demonstration.
