Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle was accorded a final farewell with full state honours on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 5:18 PM at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park crematorium. Her son, Anand Bhosle, lit the funeral pyre, marking the end of an extraordinary musical journey.

Among those who visited were Ranveer Singh, Vidya Balan, lyricist Javed Akhtar, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Born on September 8, 1933, in Sangli, Maharashtra, Asha Bhosle was the daughter of Dinanath Mangeshkar and the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar. From an early age, she took on family responsibilities and began her career in music.
She recorded her first song for the Marathi film Majha Bal in 1943 and made her Hindi film debut with Chunariya in 1948. Over a career spanning more than seven decades, she recorded over 12,000 songs in more than 20 languages.
